History of LBA
In 1976, a small group of students united to form an organization that would fulfill the unmet needs
of the students at California State University, Northridge. Today this organization is known as the Latino Business Association,
which was founded on the idea of the students who wanted to excel in their education and professional pursuits. From these
humble beginnings, LBA has grown to a strong organization whose mission is to provide students with academic assistance, professional
development, and community involvement. We are supported through the efforts of our membership as well as our alumni, caring
families and committed professionals. LBA is now one of the largest and most prestigious organizations at CSUN and has been
recognized at the regional and national levels.
From over two hundred and fifty student organizations on campus, LBA has been awarded the most outstanding
organization of the year nine out of the past fifteen years. In the national level LBA was recognized as the“Most Outstanding
Student Business Organization Nationwide”by the National Hispanic Business Association.
LBA is composed of business majors and also
non-business majors. Today, we provide students from all backgrounds and majors with scholastic assistance, leadership opportunities,
corporate exposure, community involvement and networking skills. One of our main goals is to bridge the gap between the academic
and professional world. Through guest speakers, interview workshops and corporate tours, LBA allows students the opportunity
to experience what it means to be in a business atmosphere and also the key to achieve the ultimate success after graduation,
to be able to find employment in their field of expertise.
LBA is not only an organization with dedicated students, but it is also a family;
and an organization of students working together toward improving the quality of education in our area. Our annual events,
such as our Family Night and Turkey Bowl all focus on other aspects of our member’s lives other than business. LBA invites
you to join in our celebration of the past 32 years of excellence. Through every step of the journey, dedicated professionals
and loyal corporate sponsors have helped us to remain strong.
