Nursing Diagnosis of Peritonitis Disease

Peritonitis is an inflammation of the peritoneum, the serous membrane lines was part of the abdominal cavity. Peritonitis can be local or general, and may be due to the result of infection (often due to rupture of hollow organs which may occur in abdominal trauma or appendicitis) or from non-infectious process.

Nursing Diagnosis for Peritonitis

  • Acute pain that related to the accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity
  • Hyperthermia that related to inflammatory processes
  • Constipation that related to decreased intestinal peristalsis
  • Lack of fluid volume related to displacement of the fluid, the intracellular to extracellular regions peritoneum
  • Nutrient balance: lack of body requirements related to decreased peristalsis
  • The risk of infection related to inflammation
