Symptoms of CO(Carbon Monoxide) poisoning and First Aid

Natural conditions that getting worse and the lack of awareness from human to the environment, cause adverse effects to human life, and the environment. So with the natural conditions like this, then people will easily carbon monoxide poisoning. As for CO poisoning can be in several ways. There poisoning through respiratory, skin, and food.

Air containing high levels of carbon monoxide can cause accidental poisoning, and is due because the hemoglobin in human blood would be more binding than oxygen gas carbon monoxide, and the high concentration of CO gas can cause death.

The symptoms:

  • Tears and saliva will flow continuously
  • Dry cough with phlegm (TB)
  • Headache (headache, dizziness)
  • Stomach feels queasy
  • Drowning
  • Seizures, convulsions
  • Unconscious

First Aid

First aid for victims of CO poisoning is to take the victim to a safe place and lull the victim with the supine position.

If the victim is unconscious, it can be done in the following ways to sober up:

  • Position the victim’s head lower than feet.
  • Loosen the collar or the victim’s chest.
  • Give the oil warmers on the chest, back, and neck.
